Speaking at the awards, Maegan said: “I entered because I found the question really intellectually stimulating and I found myself wanting to do the research required to answer it.The strength of the field was exceptional, and all the judges were impressed by the effort and thoughtfulness shown in the varied essays produced.“The judges had to make some difficult decisions to whittle that field down to the winners and runners-up of the six prizes, given the range and originality of responses, but those chosen are well-deserved winners.” It is hoped that exposing the sixth-formers to the type of work they will be expected to do at Cambridge will encourage them to consider applying to Newnham.
